The looming end of term and the Deathly Hallows..

Originally written on 25/11/2010

We now have 11days whole days until the end of semester! I have to finish off a few bits on my two essays which wont take long, and get this commission doc done and thats it!
Can't believe its been a whole year, and we're nearly in our second year! How exciting! Im not sure if I am looking forward to new people or not...this is our territory now and they will come in and take over! However it will be nice to meet some new people!

Saw Harry Potter last night it was so so so so so good, my favorite so far! It was extremely dark for a Harry Potter film, and it was just so different, for example, they weren't in Hogwarts at all!! It was just so much more..grown up, but I guess as the actors are adults now, it had to be. And they're were a few parts where I actually jumped in my seat! I cannot wait until the summer for the second part. LOVED IT!

Essays and Commission...I can nearly see the light.

The two big essays that have to be done have both taken the shape in the forms of first drafts, which is great because the template is there, so they can just be revised from there. We are editing for the commission unit now, and everything else is done, the feeling of rushed panic from last semester has gone, as the time is completely managed! I know that I will have revised my direction essay by wednesday and handed in thursday, revised my narrative & genre essay by next week, hopefully in the shape of a final draft, but if not, then it will only take a day or so more, so by then the film will be halfway there, and we have until the 6th december to really fine tune it, and then its my birthday and christmas! hurray!

Direction, edit, commission, essay draft & Shutter Island

Its been a while... :S

So to update! We have now completed one half of our direction unit! Wooo! In earlier posts I think I said that I was going to do the director Guillmoro del Toro, but as I decided it was too hard to achieve, I went for another director; Tim Burton, in which I still got to play around with dark and gothic themes which I will admit, I love! It was great fun to do, I got to turn my kitchen into a burton wonderland! AT first, I was not happy with my footage, as I feel I just dont have that creative edge when it comes to handling the camera, but with all the work I did in pre production, and the hours I spent in post, (which, by some small miracle, I am not holding at arms length anymore, I am starting to see that editing can be quite magical, and turn footage that was a bit crap, into something quite ok!) I actually am quite proud of my film, I dont get the same feeling of horror that I do when I think of my trailor!

So, onto the next unit! Commission begins next week, so this week Dylan and I have to prepare, prepare, prepare! And draft out some kind of a script.
We also have a draft essay to hand in on thursday - eek!

Another random update is that I watched Shutter Island by Martin Scorsese last night, and it was awesome! It made me shout NO! at the screen at the end because I'm still not sure if he was crazy or not! There was some great editing in it too, and yes I surprised myself by noticing the editing, as you all know editing is not my bestest friend!

Well its all very busy now, so instead of hiding in blogger, I actually need to do some work! :(
